REALLY SORE LOSERS

Former bulldog, and Speaker of the House, Newt is out.

The recent elections really upset the Repugnant applecart to say nothing of their plans to deep six the President.  Newt was said to be too abrasive, so up stepped a horse, er speaker, of another color, with a kinder and gentler approach, named Robert Livingston. To woo and win the voters, we presume.

Who are they fooling?  Just like tiger's stripes and leopard's spots, the Repugnant Party does not shed its basic, instinctive predilections -- especially those related to woman's rights.

Here's an excerpt from The Burlington (VT) Free Press Editorial (11/12/98):

Now that he has convinced the World he's a moderate, U.S. Rep. Robert Livingston appears certain to be the next Speaker of the House.

Sorry, but the name seems familiar.  And as far as Vermont is concerned, the history does not seem moderate.

Earlier this decade, Middlebury College decided that its fraternities would admit women.  This policy makes sense, because gender discrimination is illegal.

One fraternity -- DKE -- refused to accept the change, and took the college to court.  It lost, of course, and this is where Livingstone came in.

You see, he is also a DKE.  In 1995 he wrote to Middlebury College President, John McCardell implying that the college's policy could cut off its federal funds ($2.1 Mil). President McCardell sent him an uncompromising reply, noting that the College had existed longer than Louisiana.  He also questioned Livingston's efforts "to involve the Congress of the United States in the affairs of a private institution."
This same kinder, gentler, soon to be Speaker, Livingston from Louisiana, stabbed Newt in the back, and tells us that the bloody hole was caused when Newt fell on his sword for the Party.  Whatta guy!

Meanwhile, back at the grassroots level, we tuned into the local hate radio talk show to check out the verbal garbage.

We've mentioned it before.  Hate radio is usually emceed by a conservative pretending to be neutral, and is sponsored by the area businesses known for financing conservative politics. Nearly every locality has at least one hate/talk radio program.

Radio's lush, receptive climate fosters mean-spirited comments.  It brings out the whiners, accusers and complainers who call in day after day, saying pretty much the same thing each time, hiding behind the anonymity of assumed names.

The regular callers are amusing to listen to (in moderation), and give real insight into the Repugnant character.  They were in full cry after the recent election results, eager to assign blame.

Well, you must understand.  From their viewpoint ALL Repugnants are perfect so losses have to be justified.

At first, the callers held a wake for Newt, extolling his many virtues -- repeating and salivating over the scathing remarks he used to make about Demogrogs.

"Poor Newt." they cried, "He was really a smart, nice guy.  It was the Demogrogs that demonized him and then the media reported what the Demogrogs said and that turned the country against him.

"That is the reason he had such low favorability ratings."

        Oh, really?

Then the callers got onto the subject of why their Party actually lost some seats in Congress during this off-year election.

One of their favorite targets was Hillary Rodham Clinton.  The degree of hatred expressed toward the First Woman was palpable.

They held her responsible for knocking off such stellar politicians as Faircloth and D'Amato.  They called her a subversive, a traitor and a lesbian among other things.

Of course, WE think Hillary did just great and we'd love to see her return one day as a candidate for public office.

In this changing world of ours, anything is possible.

Remember how that Native-American-Scotsman, Ben Whitehorse Campbell changed from a Demogrog to a Repugnant right in the middle of his term?  He just picked up his haggis and stuff, walked across the isle and plunked his rear end down in an empty seat.

Remember how safely Demogrogic the South used to be and how more and more it is becoming Repugnant?

But things could change again.  Who knows?

As for Newt, he's said to be taking some time off to think great thoughts and such.  We'll not count him out, especially if he is intent on revenge.

One day, in this rapidly changing world of ours, the bulldog could walk out of a Georgia swamp, transgendered -- a radical, mad-as-hell-won't-take-it-anymore woman.

        Yeah, when donkeys fly!
