BIRDS OF A FEATHER

Three more G.O.P. presidential wannabees have either announced the formation of an exploratory committee or declared their candidacy to add to the already crowded field of Repugnant dreams.  Already the Marlboro Man has set his sights on vamping mindless women.  He has vowed to eliminate the gender gap.

And, already there are some well trained women performing a familiar knee jerk reaction. We hear them gushing over his personal appearance and saying things like, "Oh, he's sooo cute."

Well, there's no accounting for taste and everyone has a right to express the qualifications she wants in a president.  Thankfully, most of us will demand more.

He recently declared that he had a famous parent -- his mother.  "Oh gush!"  What a good boy to honor his mother, leaving no doubt he's out to woo and win us.  But let's make him put his "compassionate conservatism" where his mouth is.

Ask this Texan, at every opportunity, to really honor his mother by pledging that if elected, he will VETO ANY LAW THAT DEPRIVES WOMEN OF THEIR REPRODUCTIVE CHOICES.

If he has naughty skeletons in his closet, he has already taken the path of "Youthful Indiscretion Hyde" and has refused to discuss his past.  The media will not dig into it until he is actually running.

Remembering all the charges against the Clintons regarding banks etc, you might want to see how the Bush Boys have done in this area.  No pikers here, the story is found in:

Pat-The-Hat Buchanan, mouthpiece of the angry white men, is off and running again. Remember his impassioned speech to the G.O.P. six years ago?  We'll say this for him, you know where he stands on the issues.  Not like some politicians who say one thing and do another.

This year, he has competition in the holiness area from Wylie Coyote Bauer and Danny-boy of Murphy Brown fame.

The word is that Barbie Dole will give Viagra Bob another run at the White House.  Of course, they are both anti-choice as are all the others.  If this double header interests you, be sure to check out this URL:

All of these candidates are sure to make the primaries interesting and in States that allow it, there will be some voters crossing party lines to annoy the Repugnants.

Our personal, safe choice is Buchanan because he pisses off his own party worse than the Demogrogs do.  If he should win the primary, Repugnants would stay away from the polls in droves to avoid soiling themselves.

So much for these anti-choice squawkers.  We turn now to a bird of a very different feather.

HARRY BLACKMUN'Gapper's nominee for the Women's Hall of Fame died March 4, 1999.  Retired Supreme Court Justice, Harry A. Blackmun wrote the Emancipation Proclamation for Women, commonly called Roe v. Wade, in 1973.

He championed the maintaining of a strict separation between church and state.  He argued that women must have *reproductive choice* for them to be brought out from bondage and into equality with men.

He received in excess of 60,000 pieces of "hate mail" calling him a murderer and comparing him to the Nazi overseers of genocide.  He read all of his mail.

As expected, the anti-choice cadre greeted his passing with claims that he was responsible for the death of thousands of < babies >.  Of course, they misspoke.  They meant to say "fetuses."

A BABY is an air breather, like us, and one of them did die on the 6th of March, 1999. Sixteen month old Alexis Cormier, unwanted by her biological parents was first advertised for sale and then given into the care of a man and woman.

Cause of death was brain injuries due to VIOLENT SHAKING.  The police have charged the man with murder.

Sometime, we hope soon, the anti-choice, pseudo-christians must realize that most always choice means that an unwanted, like Alexis, will not be born to suffer 17 months of torture, and then be violently murdered.

We wish they may understand that choice many times also means the life or health of a woman who was not ready or could not afford another mouth to feed.

Rest easy, Justice Blackmun.  We trust that you read lots of great letters from us thanking you for what you did.  Our fervent hope is to keep the faith you had in us intact for future generations.

Our power to persevere lies in the ballot and our dedication to a quality of life for ALL.
