THE MIND-BOGGLING SIXTIES

        The darling of hate-radio talk shows lately is David ("Radical Son") Horowitz.  What an eye opener to listen to him.  It seems that the Communist Party took over the Democratic Party in the sixties.  He knows this because his parents were communist agitators.

        This means, of course, that Clinton has brought our economy and country to its knees as ordered by Kremlin bosses.  Our currency is worthless and our stock market has crashed. Furthermore, all the things we thought we lived through and experienced in those years are turned topsy-turvy.

        We were especially enlightened to learn that Hillary Clinton was one of the "Red Menace" leaders while she was in college.  (Precocious of her, what?)  Joe McCarthy, it turns out, was saving the world, and the Nixon impeachment was a communist plot.

        We learned that there was "political manipulations and cover-ups by AIDS activists."  That "the media helped to spread AIDS in the early years of the epidemic and made it the national catastrophe it has become."  Well, the media may be biased, thrill seeking and responsible for many things, but AIDS?

        Now, as if all that wasn't enough, Horowitz told us that the Woman's Movement has been just one big communist gang all along -- fed and succored by the "liberal press."  All those leaders like Bella Abzug, for example, were communists who led us astray!

        Funny thing is we thought our movement had been going on long before the sixties.  Weren't there some women by the names of Susan B. Anthony, Sojourner Truth, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott, for example?  Didn't our gaining the right to vote come before the sixties or do we owe that to the communists too?

        Horowitz interviewed the Malboro Man with the biggest bunch of softball questions you could imagine.  G-Dubya admitted to youthful indiscretions but refused to be specific.  His reason was that he didn't want to run "THAT kind of a campaign."

        So, gutter politics aren't for him or the radical son unless the manure hits the fan in someone else's gutter.  That is convenient, come to think of it.  Could that be the meaning of Compassionate Conservatism?

        Anyhow, listening to Horowitz talk about HIS sixties just gets more and more exciting.  Taking his cue from "rightwing-F-wordists" like Rush (Jabba The Hut) Limbaugh and SuzieQ Sommers he informed us that there was no employment inequality between the genders.

        On the equal pay issue, he asserted along with Moaning Mona Charen and her stalwart band of Fortune 500 Independent Women's Forum galz and guyz that any pay difference was because most women chose to work in low paying positions or only part time.

        Also, that the statistics the government uses were wrong because it added up the pay and divided it by the number of women working.  Well sure.  That would screw up the works, wouldn't it, unless he thinks stay-at-home-moms don't work and aren't counted.

        With all the above coming from a former Liberal who underwent a financial conversion to Ultra Conservatism, it was equally stunning to find ourselves in agreement (albeit on only one sentence) with white supremacist and ultra Christian bigot, Jimmy (I am even more perfect than Bill Bennett) Dobson.

        You have to understand that he is royally P.O.'d with those conservative candidates who are trying hard to appear to be both pro-life and pro-choice on the A-B-O-R-T-I-O-N issue!  So because of this, he made the following statement that we concur with: "my goal is NOT to see the Republican Party prosper."

        Meanwhile in the Capital, Majority Whip, Tom Delay is now fully in control of the House of Reps having castrated Speaker Denny Hastert, with the dull knife of two Kosovo votes.

        Delay, G-Dubya and other select Repugnants are meeting often to plan the takeover of the United States government by Texas.  So far they haven't been able to figure out what to do about the WOMEN'S VOTE or how to annex D.C. so the G-Dub can continue to keep the Texas Legislature between himself and the electorate.

        FECInfo -- public information, e.g. campaign contributionsAh well, it has been fun to see the spin the rychus ones employ to frighten the public into voting for them.  But think about it.  Since the sixties, Demogrogs have mostly controlled Congress, and for the last 6 years, the presidency.  If they, and we women who vote for them are communists, why has the Women's Movement continually lost ground?

        The Equal Rights Amendment -- crashed and burned.  Equal pay for equal work -- 25 % less than males.  Reproductive rights -- being nibbled to death.  Rape -- increasing.  Battering -- increasing.  Backlash -- increasing.

        :-)  On the up side: two down, one to go!  A hung jury for Julie Hiatt Steele and another black eye for Kennie Starr.  We hope that the jury for Web Hubble will make it three times and he's out!
