REGULATE WOMEN!

In the wake of the recent school bombings, our beloved media have characterized and labeled the women who will be responsible for creating a gender gap for this coming presidential election.  You will remember that in 1992, it was "Soccer Moms."  1996 brought us "Waitresses" and now we are told that in 2000, "Fearful Moms" will cause the g-gap.

This refers to polls showing that women fear guns and therefore want the kind of laws that Demogrogs will make.  It seemed for awhile that the Congressional Repugnants just didn't get the whole gun issue but lucky for them, there was another school shooting.

Angry women called and they did an about face to pass the Demogrogs gun law.  Now, they still have to answer to the gun lobby that contributes tons of money for their campaigns.

Meanwhile, back in the RNC headquarters they continue to chortle over the success of their plan to turn the gender gap to the advantage of Gee Dubya Bush.  Polls have indicated for some time now that women are expected to vote in greater numbers for him than for Gallopin' Gore.

Although there are those who believe that women vote with their gonads for the sexiest male, this is not the prime reason for their optimism.  That is due to Bush's public remarks on the abortion issue -- his soft stand that has many women believing that he will not restrict their reproductive rights.

How has his planning committee managed to show what appears to be a tolerance for abortion rights for women without offending and royally pissing off the base Repugnant Ry-chus ones that he has been meeting with and reassuring? Shhhhhh.....

Listen closely to his speeches when he finally comes out from behind the Texas Legislature where he has been hiding.

He has already proclaimed that "the country is not yet ready to outlaw abortion," insinuating that he would not force the issue as president.  However, he went on to say that it would be up to each individual state to decide.

Soon you will be hearing him add the key word, REGULATE after "decide."  It should turn your blood cold.  He will present it as a fair way to "deal with this issue that so divides people."  It will sound so reasonable, and therein lies the trap.  Women, prepare for the greatest snow-job since another Bush said, "Read my lips. No new taxes."

To really get an understanding and flavor of the word, REGULATE, check with the C.E.O. or head of any industry or business that is REGULATED.  Most will tell you that these REGULATIONS may be, and usually are, so convoluted that it is almost impossible to obey them.  Attorneys must be hired to watch every step the industry takes or the result is fines and/or jail.

That same C.E.O. will tell you that REGULATIONS do not remain stagnant but tend to become more and more RESTRICTIVE and COMPLICATED over time.  For awhile, your State many allow abortions under certain conditions and then suddenly, your health practitioner and you may be in jail for breaking the law.

This is what happens when legislators write the rules.  This is what WOULD happen in States that are released by a federal government to wreck havoc on a woman's right to choose and to make HER OWN decisions with her health professional's advice.

Already there are some States that have started REGULATING WOMEN.  Despite Roe v. Wade, these State government have eroded a Constitutional right.  Women in these States, that can afford to, are going to other States THAT HAVE REMAINED UNRESTRICTED UP TO NOW.  Where will they go as the Ry-chus noose tightens access in those States?

Why must we keep this medical procedure open and available to all women? Because it is more than just a reproductive issue; it is a health issue.  It is more than a REGULATION; it is a return to enslavement.

It is imperative that ALL of us must be prepared to enter into the coming debate with facts. We may be sure that the RNC will put out plenty of erroneous information with all of the money they have collected.  An excellent source of information is at your fingertips in liznotes, "Effects of Pregnancy."

Right now, there are hospitals that turn women away to die rather than allow doctors to save their lives with a therapeutic abortion.  Churches run these hospitals.

Many women who are now actively supporting a woman's right to choose no longer need that right for themselves but they have lived through the times when they had no choice.  They know what will happen when one State REGULATION after another turns the clock back on the Woman's Movement to Parity.

So, be FEARFUL -- for your school children, for your daughters and granddaughters and for yourself.  Be very afraid.  Don't worry about Y2K -- that's nothing compared to the hell that STATE REGULATION of women's choice would bring about.

:-(  Kulcher Kontrol:  It's 1999 but in a piece about W.N.B.A.'s Theresa Weatherspoon, writer Lorrie Lynch states: "Weatherspoon, 33. grew up AS A TOMBOY in Texas..."  When will our society STOP discouraging athletics for women?  Let them hear from you at:
