THE OTHER FOOT
When Hillary Clinton was working on a health plan, she was highly criticized by the Repugnats because her task force was meeting in secret. The media loudly condemned her and rallied around the critics and Congress to defeat her program.
Now the shoe is on the other foot. Dick Cheney is holding secret task force (big energy, big oil, and big gas) meetings on energy. Uh, actually he's been holding them for some time now and it's caused hardly a ripple in the media. Recently, since the Senate majority is now Democratic, the media seem to have just discovered it and are finally talking about it and asking who is on it.
Remember David Brock the writer who trashed Anita Hill and Hillary and just about everything Democratic? He has a new book out called, Blinded by the Right. Well, it seems that he has undergone a conversion of some sort and is admitting that he lied about receiving information about Clarence Thomas and his penchant for porno flicks. Some belated comfort here for Anita Hill and her supporters.
Wouldn't it be just great if the whole group of writers will recant and admit that they had little or no proof for the garbage that they wrote about Clinton? The ones who, without a shred of evidence, claimed Clinton killed people? Yeah, it would, but don't hold your breath.
Anyone remember the huge amount of crap thrown at former Vice President, Al Gore, when he said he didn't know that a meeting he went to at a Buddhist temple was a fund raiser?
Well Carl Rove, right hand man to "W," was caught attending a meeting of lobbyist for a company he had stock in and that meeting was in the White House. Oh oh! That used to be such a no no, but now seemingly it's O.K. The shoe is not only on the other foot, but the style and function and color have changed. It seems Carl didn't know what the meeting was about. Where are the ho ho's and tee hees of the press for Carl's faux pas?
What a farce the tax refund is turning out to be. We were told how everyone was going to get a refund and it seems that many people thought it meant them. It didn't, but that was not made clear. The result is that many have already spent the money. This is what comes of a media that just regurgitates whatever comes out of the White House.

Someone should tell the Cheney/Bushies that there are Truth in Advertising laws. Especially after they have bragged so often about cleaning up the presidency.
It's not really clear what shoe is on what foot in the present donnybrook going on with the R2lifers crowd. Since they have been adamant for some time that anything in an egg/sperm context is a human baby, some now are skating around in circles screaming, "IT ISN'T THE SAME THING!"
All the hoopla is about stem cell research. Some of the R2lifers have seen the handwriting on the wall. They are getting older and they have family that could benefit from cells that have no future except to be destroyed. Here we see the spectacle of one shoe being on both feet as they try to turn the dance into the onestep.
It's simple really, they are hoist on their own petard. Most can clearly see the benefits of stem cell research but they just hate to let go of their anti-woman stance on reproductive rights. They know most of their constituents want it and that's where the votes are. Hopefully they will end up forming a Republican firing squad and line up in a circle to shoot themselves in the other foot.
