THE OTHER GENDER GAP

The OTHER gender gap exists among Bush voters who are predominantly male. His most prominent backers are the rich, the very rich and the stinking rich which means big corporations like oil and energy, their CEOs and all their associates and minions they have the power to influence. You’ll find very few women in this class.

There is no denying that Dubya has also attracts a significant segment of the general public with his cowboy boots and hat. He wraps himself in a down home, just one of the boys persona to hide the fact that he was born, with his daddy’s “silver foot in his mouth”, into the privileged class.

He also appeals to some males because of his promise to give them money to play the stock market in lieu of Social Security. Already Boomers and post-Boomers believe there will be no S.S. for them so they love the idea of throwing the dice in the stock market.

Then there are the religious intolerants who believe Dubya will “put women in their biblical place” (at the feet of men) and forever eliminate their right to choose anything especially any kind of birth control.

Our GenderGappers web site gets mail from these bushy-boys quite frequently. Their posts are easy to spot since they most often include the word hate several times. When these come our way, we answer with a post giving them some addresses of cyber hate groups. We suggest to the writer that he would feel more at home with them.

The rychus are the very angry ones. They take extreme umbrage at what we say about women and their abilities. They also “hate” us for what we say about Dubya. We reply asking them to read the introduction to GenderGappers where it clearly says: “Welcome to GenderGappers, A NEWSLETTER FOR THE SELF-DEFINED WOMAN. GenderGappers is produced and maintained by women, for women...”

Generally our reply brings an even nastier response which we ignore, unless it is like the following example posted by Richard Bergen (which we have made less graphic with asterisks): “EAT SH*T AND DIE YOU FU**ING SLUT! We send this kind of response to abuse@ whatever their ISP happens to be.

Finally, a large group of Bushy-boys is found in the media. Seldom have so many covered the a$$ of a president with such great diligence. Throughout the campaign and even now, they forgivingly translate Dubya’s words into something resembling the English language. Most unfailingly put a positive slant on his every thought, word and deed.

What a far cry from the way they treat Democrats -- especially women, and especially women who are strong and outspoken. Right now you can tune in and hear the trashing of Janet Reno since she announced she is looking into a run for Governor of Florida. Especially harsh in their criticism, as one might expect, are the far, far rychus gasbags at Fox TV.

Listen carefully. Chances are you will not hear anything about the positive things she did as Attorney General. You will not hear that a blue-ribbon investigative committee (chaired by a Republican) held her harmless in the Waco debacle, for example.

They certainly will not tell you how she came to the defense of women harassed by the rychus when they visited women’s clinics. This harassment is illegal under the RICO Act and the harassers subject to large fines. You will hear that she “protected Clinton,” not that she appointed several special councils.

Since she is a Democratic candidate for public office, the GOP watchdogs of the media are in full cry, reminiscent of the baying that went on about Hillary Clinton when she ran for the Senate. Certainly it is the media’s job to bring us the facts about a candidate but mostly what we are getting is their opinion fed directly from their masters at the Republican National Committee.

And at FOX TV they announce every 5 minutes or so that “FOX is the network America trusts for news that is fair and balanced.” The inference is that any positive report you might hear concerning a Democrat is because the rest of the media is “liberal.” Meanwhile…

        “BUSH LIKES BRIT

Brit Hume, Managing Editor, FOX NEWS and his wife, Mrs. Kim Schiller Hume, Bureau Chief, FOX NEWS, Washington, DC, are the only mainpress players invited to Bush's first White House State Dinner, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.”
