Presidential papers usually are made public after 12 years but Bush has signed an executive privilege order that may seal some records in perpetuity. The reason is NOT what the Bushies claim since there are already provisions to safeguard anything that might threaten national security. The reason for sealing the records IS that some documents might be embarrassing not only to the president's father, but to the retreads in the present administration. This is a very bad idea! It will prevent American voters from knowing what they did when they were part of the former administrations. Can you say Iran-Contra? Finally, the Democrats in Congress have woken up to the fact that Dubya has been diddling them. While they were trusting and believing Bush was sincere, his administration was already screwing them over. Touting the needs of the "war effort," he got Congress to pass bills to which he had attached items of his conservative agenda.
Energy:
Congress has passed the preliminary legislation that endangers wildlife
in Alaska with big oil exploration. Many
energy experts have told us that our gas and oil pipelines and power plants
(especially atomic) are highly vulnerable to terrorist attack. This threat
is best fixed with more efficient, renewable, diverse and dispersed energy
sources.
In addition, Bush may have a secret agenda
in mounting a war against Afghanistan. This article explores the background
of oil, the Bushies and The UNOCAL Oil Company, Houston, Texas:
PILGER: HIDDEN AGENDA BEHIND WAR ON TERROR - London Mirror
Excerpt: With secret US government approval, the company offered them a generous cut of the profits of the oil and gas pumped through a pipeline that the Americans wanted to build from Soviet central Asia through Afghanistan. A US diplomat said: "The Taliban will probably develop like the Saudis did." He explained that Afghanistan would become an American oil colony, there would be huge profits for the West, no democracy and the legal persecution of women. "We can live with that," he said. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/
Economics:
the economic stimulus bill finds Bush and his Farengi Corporate buddies
putting forth legislation that benefits themselves riding over the corpses
of 6000 people to get a profit. They want taxes cut for the
rich, the Democrats want to give help to the jobless. There will be a compromise
and we can only hope that some provisions for the poorer Americans will
be in the bill. We should all let our Congressional Reps know how we feel
about this bill. Once again, Bush is touting his agenda by making it appear
that the Democrats are standing in the way of help for the economy.
David Broder, esteemed columnist for the Washington Post, lays out the information on this bill in a very clear and concise manner. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/politics/columns/broderdavid/
Anti-terrorism:
the bill already passed is a pretty scary thing. There does not seem to
be anyone watching the hen house and now Congress has handed the keys over
to the fox. Several senators have reservations about this bill
and over the protestations of the Bushes, put limits to the power of Attorney
General Ashcroft. It still means that we must be vigilant to keep more
Watergate-type GOPsters dirty tricks from influencing the coming elections.
It is not clear why, despite the many warnings,
the events of 9/11 were allowed to happen with absolutely no warning to
the American people that an attack was eminent. Our CIA apparently had
contact with bin Laden at many levels. Excerpt from "Bin Laden Met
With CIA Agent in July":According to information's collected
by Radio France International, and Le Figaro, Oussama Ben Laden met with
an American CIA agent last July while he was being treated for a kidney
ailment at the American Hospital of Dubai. http://www.truthout.com/11.01A.htm
Meanwhile, we are sending in troops to support the Northern Alliance (NA) in their fight against the Taliban who now rule Afghanistan and support the terrorists. If and when there is an end to this war, what faction will prevail? The Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA) tells us that the Northern Alliance has a record similar to the Taliban.
If the NA came into power women would still be persecuted, denied civil rights and prohibited from obtaining an education. For big oil, women's rights are not a consideration. If the Bushies are in charge when the time comes to choose Afghani's government, remember that big oil rules the Bushie roost.
