GRUITIES, CONGRUITIES, INCONGRUITIES

It isn't just a matter of whether the Bushies conspired and were culpable for 9/11, or whether they failed to get specific information from intelligent agencies (FBI, CIA.) We know by their own admission that they have lied and kept information from us.
"Whether it is the records of the energy task force, the presidential records of past administrations, the details of the bunker government or the office of homeland security, or the details of intelligence gathering prior to 9/11, this administration isn't telling the American public anything it doesn't have to." http://historynewsnetwork.org/articles/article.html?id=735
Now, instead of coming clean with answers to our questions, they are doing what they accused Clinton of doing: stonewalling and changing the subject. They seek to raise America's fears by promising that further terrorists attacks are eminent and releasing a plethora of possible threats.
"That's why the Bushies are trying to terrify us. They desperately want to change the subject from the stunning lapses of their ostensibly expert foreign policy team and they cynically want to make it sound as if nothing they do or don't do really matters in the end."
-- Maureen Dowd, Color Them Fatalistic http://www.nytimes.com/2002/05/22/opinion/22DOWD.html
The problem is that we are confused at the way things are being reported. It differs so much from what we have become used to during the 8 years of the Clinton presidency. That is, President Clinton was always held ULTIMATELY responsible for everyone and everything in his administration.

Always, whatever there were problems involving mistakes made by the FBI, such as Ruby Ridge or Waco, the blame was (and still is) placed squarely and often on President Clinton and Attorney General Reno.

All we hear now is that 9/11 was caused by the failure of our intelligent services especially the FBI. We are told that if the Bushies failed to act to prevent it, despite the information that was available, it was not their fault because the information was not SPECIFIC. AG Ashcroft is seldom even mentioned.

The perceived failures of the Immigration and Naturalization Service regarding Elian Gonzalis and other incidents were placed directly at the door of AG Reno and President Clinton.

When INS problems surfaced recently about border security and the issuing of student visas posthumously to some of the highjackers, not one word was spoken of the responsibility of the administration. Neither Ashcroft nor Bush was even mentioned.

Indeed, media reporters acted as if the INS was a separate entity from the administration. The Bushies delicately raised their skirts of responsibility and stepped over the charges. Then they declared that the INS should be divided into two parts.

The first terrorists bombing in New York, U.S. Consulates and the USS Cole were blamed on President Clinton, the military and National Security members of his cabinet. It was their fault that intelligence failed.

The Bushies moved fast to make it appear that they never saw the Phoenix memo and that it was the FBI and CIA that were at fault.

These examples show how differently the media, cued by the GOP, treats this administration. Can't you just hear the screams of outrage from the GOPpers and its captive media if a Clinton cabinet officer had taken U2's Bono on an overseas junket as an advisor?

If Clinton, as CEO was blamed for everything in his administration on his watch, so should Bush be, and no one should be called unpatriotic for doing so.

Jody Allen of US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT commented that the reaction of the Bushies to the recent revelations was to change the subject (another horrible terrorist act is about to happen) and to excuse themselves and blame others.

The Bushies claim that they "inherited" all the terrorist problems from former President Clinton ("It's not our fault, it's Clinton's".) They are lashing blame on the former head of the FBI, Louis Freeh. Remember him? He was their darling who could do no wrong during the Clinton years because of his opposition to Attorney General Reno.

How can any American continue to trust those who keep information from us that we should know for our own safety, who refuse to accept responsibility for their actions and blame everything on others?
