Seriously though, Agent Colleen Rowley dropped her memo bombshell about all the information that was available to the administration before 9/11. It seemed certain that it would be the lead story for several days. Conveniently, before the media got around to disseminating all her information to us, Il Presidente Bushi swept it all away with a thinly veiled plagiarism of a Senate bill to create a cabinet post for Homeland Security. And, if there are any lingering doubts about the abilities of the CIA and FBI to protect this country, (TA DA!) most conveniently an evil al Qaida trainee, Jose Padilla, surfaced. Of course, he was discovered and accused of planning to make a dirty bomb a month ago. Sure the Bushies tell us they held off announcing his arrest so the DOJ could turn him over to the DOD. That was very convenient as it took an American citizen out of the criminal justice system where he'd have access to an attorney and might talk to reporters.
Also, Padilla's trial will not be public so nothing has to be proven or revealed to us. The results are what count. The Bushies are thumping their mega-million $war chests and bragging about saving America. Just can't get more convenient than that. They accused Clinton of wagging the dog to take attention away from his peccadilloes but he was a piker compared to the thought and mind control Bushies. Much of the media is dutifully telling us what a dirty bomb could do to us, so conveniently the fear factor goes up again along with Bush's poll numbers. If you think back, it was obvious from the beginning of Dubya's run for the office. Whatever the Bushie's decided they didn^Òt want known about their candidate was not examined by their lapdog media. He was even lauded for things he didn't say. Remember Bush bragging and joking about hitting a trifecta? He claimed that while campaigning, he had said that one of three things had to happen before the budget would go into deficit which would impact Social Security and Medicare. It has now been admitted that he never did say that, and it is only in the last week that the media has admitted to knowing this all along but did not expose his lie, rather they kept repeating it in their news stories. Secrecy is the hallmark of the Bushies. It is used to cover up their actions and promote reelection of Republicans. Until the media returns to its prime function of attack dog, the Bushies can successfully dupe the electorate into thinking that any criticism is helping the enemy. "It's the war, stupid!" -- convenient. Fortunately, more and more reporters are beginning to ask the hard questions. With enough of them picking away at the Bushie's divine right to rule without oversight, we will learn of their duplicity in past events such as Enron and what Cheney and his energy pals were up to, and who knew what and when about 9/11. If this does not happen we draw nearer to a military dictatorship and away from a Constitutional government "of the people, by the people and for the people." When A.G. Ashcroft is complicit in denying civil rights to any U. S. citizen on the whim of Bushi election strategy, we are all in peril. Paul Begala drove home the point with the following statement on CROSSFIRE. "Ashcroft is not half the woman Janet Reno is. As Attorney General, she did an excellent job of fighting crime and terrorism without suspending the Constitution." 2002-023

our Constitution that assured every U.S. citizen the right to counsel --
or the right to presumption of innocence, or the right to a free and open
trial and judgment by peers.
