| We have always
been against using words that defame and disrespect women even though there
are those who argue that by using them we limit their power to hurt.
Recent events
have caused us to change our minds, but only conditionally.
It's really not the word that rankles but its selectivity. In a democracy,
that is discriminatory and should be forbidden.
The word bitch is thought to start out
some many years ago as a name for animal mothers such as the female dog
(biccha) and from there was applied to females of other species. When applied
to women, it was derogatory, indicating a lewd woman.
It also meant "to botch, bungle or
spoil and to grumble or find fault." These uses have stayed fairly
constant over time. What has been lost or just ignored is that "bitch"
was also applied to men.

Is your lazy bitch of a brother
gone yet?
Bitch is a word that is used to demoralize
and intimidate many women. They are called this when they try to assert
themselves in the workplace or in the home. Overall, it has been a controlling
word.
None the less, some women have internalized
the appellation and redefined it to show their strength and power:
"You want
a bitch? You want a bitch? You can't handle a bitch!"
"I am Biker
Bitch of Borg. Kiss my assimilator!"
The solution to the pejorative nature of
the word, "bitch," is for women to quit making it gender specific
and REINTRODUCE the use of the word to describe men too. As the saying
goes, "What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander."
There are different kinds and degree of
bitches and bitchery. We use the pairing of female and male bitches to
demonstrate that the appellation is not gender specific and illustrate
how men, as well as women, are bitches.
We present some well known, and should
be known, bitches. You will think of many more and hopefully will incorporate
the word, where it applies, into your own descriptions of males, as well
as females. James Traficant and Ann Coulter: loud mouthed, foul-mouthed
bitches. Both lie consistently and what they can't prove, they make up
without a care for any harm they may inflict on others. They are consumed
with hatred.
Phyllis Schlafly and Dubya Bush:
compassionate Christian conservatives to a fault -- the fault being that
compassion is only found in their bitch-words not in their bitch-hearts.
Don Rumsfeld and Mona Charen:
these two take their authority straight from god and with bitchiness above
and beyond, inflict their opinions on the world.
Hillary
Clinton and Paul Begala: two people who are bitchy in more ways
than you can imagine. They are facile in speech and unbeatable in an argument.
Despite being put down repeatedly they just bounce back and this annoys
the hell out of some people.
Ari Fleischer and Mary Matalin:
demonstrate constantly their bitchy ability to smoothly spin the message
without turning a hair. They are remarkably proficient in their defense
of pure bullshit.
Rose Pullen
and Bill Pullen: absolutely bitchin'
really describes these two. Bill, because, unlike so many fathers, he allowed
and encouraged his daughter, Rose, to become all that she could be -- a
competent and courageous human being. Rose, because she took advantage
of her opportunities to define herself.
Waterville, Maine
Fifteen-year-old Rose Pullen operated a winch
and boom on a wrecker to free her father Bill who was trapped under a car.
Then she ran to the family station wagon and drove him to where he could
receive medical attention.
There's a little of the bitch in everyone.
The trick is not to be ashamed of it but train it to work to women's advantage
and the "Greater Good."
