Environmental
protection is now an oxymoron similar to military intelligence. While the
Bushies and their media, replete with war reports, alarums and plans have
distracted us, protective environmental regulations have been hemorrhaging.
There's something happening here. What it is ain't exactly clear. Ø Logging in our National Forests made easier as 58 million acres are now unprotected from roads and development. Ø Power plants and factories are released from many pollution controls. There's a man with a gun over there, Telling me I got to beware. Ø Parks denied ability to limit snowmobiles. Ø Reduced Fuel-efficiency standards. I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound? Everybody look what's going down. Ø The drilling of thousands of new natural gas wells given the go-ahead. Ø Coal producers allowed to dump more fill into streams and rivers. There's battle lines being drawn. Nobody's right if everybody's wrong. Ø Scientists who disagree with Bush on environmental issues are fired. Ø Defense Department targets environmental laws. Young people speaking their minds, Getting so much resistance from behind. Ø Rejected the Kyoto global warming treaty. Ø Reduced EPA fines for polluters by 64% Paranoia strikes deep Into your life it will creep Ø Funding stopped for several superfund sites. Ø Focus on fossil fuel instead of reducing demand for energy. It starts when you're always afraid Ø Little or no support for renewable energy
such as wind, solar and geothermal. Ø Planning to open up the Arctic refuge for oil drilling.
