THE WUSS FACTOR

Flash! Since the end of the Vietnam War, presidents have worried that their military actions would lose support once the public glimpsed the remains of U.S. soldiers arriving at air bases in flag draped caskets. To this problem, the Bush administration has found a simple solution: It has ended the public dissemination of such images by banning news coverage and photography of dead soldiers' homecomings on all military bases. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article5036.htm

We're hearing a lot lately from those decrying the lack of guts demonstrated by Democrats. Howard Dean owes much of his popularity to the fact that he doesn't pull his punches when going after Bush or the other congressional Democratic presidential candidates.

They hardly raised an eyebrow as they backed Bush on the wars, the Patriot Act and tax cuts, for example, even though some had doubts. Following 9/11 it seemed that everywhere was Bush country.

For many, this validated the claim that most Democrats are natural wussies. A case in point is how most Libs wish Rush Limbaugh well rather than excoriate him as Cons would any Lib who had succumbed to a drug habit and obtained drugs illegally.

Rank and file Democrats, Independents and anyone else who is fed up with what the present administration is doing to our country want some action. They want to know something is being done to replace Bush.

Certainly very few Americans believe he was appointed by God and most feel that if he ever had a halo it has been severely tarnished by his lies.

Our question is, :Why has this wussieness been allowed to go on so long?" Our answer is, "The Talking Heads" that identify themselves as Liberal have abrogated their trust. They continually bent over and grab their heels for their Conservative opponents.

This is indefensible. They are our cheerleaders and when they fail to respond affirmatively, we, the people are not heard. Perhaps these Wussies just need a bit of help because their view of continually looking at the floor for so many encounters has warped their brains.

They can learn a lot by watching and listening to how the Cons handle political embarrassment. They just claim them as victories. Libs should do the same. There is much to praise and rave about during the Clinton years once they get up off their knees.

Clinton lied to the American people and lied under oath. He didn't capture or kill Osama despite many opportunities.

I'll see your Clinton lie about sex and raise you all the lies Bush has uttered despite the oath of office he took to protect and defend. His ignorance led us to 9/11 and his lies led us into a quagmire war that is still claiming lives, putting our environment in danger and ruining our economy. He invaded Afghanistan and didn't capture or kill Osama either despite many opportunities.

Wussie Heads must take a lesson from the outrage we are now hearing from the Cons concerning a TV movie to be shown in November about former President Ronald Reagan. For years, the Cons have lavished the characteristics of a saint upon him while denying or omitting all of his faults.

They heap praise on Reagan for his restoration of a failing economy. Golly, didn't our Bill do that and leave a huge chunk of surplus to boot? Didn't our Bill give us 8 years of peace and prosperity?

Now a movie comes along that shows Ronnie, warts and all, and the Cons are livid. Drudge, filling in for Limbaugh urged the ditto-heads to boycott the advertisers as the Cons make a full court press to "filter" what Americans are allowed to see on TV.

My my, such wailing and gnashing of teeth rises from the heartland. Cons are such sticklers for fair and accuracy. Yet they raised not a whimper at the completely fake story portraying Bush as a comic book heroic figure in a recent movie.

The Cons just recently turned a blind eye to Bill Bennett's "values" demonstration and "the Gropenfurher," Arnold, got their adoration for winning the Cal governorship.

Cons get the headlines with their outrage. Libs get only contemptuous laughter with their polite capitulation. It isn't necessary to be nasty, but Libs must get a wussectomy and speak up with pride and purpose.

"With the war on terrorism posing unprecedented challenges to our civil liberties, and with the Bush economic policy in shambles, it is high time for a close look at the state of our Union. Molly Ivins and Lou Dubose provide just that in Bushwhacked - an incisive, entertaining, and damning indictment of the Bush presidency." Amazon.com review

"When you read this book and learn how many Colonial women came here as indentured servants -- or in modern parlance, were 'trafficked' to the New World - you are bound to abandon still reigning pieties about the religiosity of our forbearers." -- America's Women: 400 Years of Dolls, Drudges, Helpmates, and Heroines, by Gail Collins.
