Rove and the others on the Bush election team got a rude shock last Sunday. The polls showed Bush leading Dean by only 5 points. Confusion reigned and everyone wet themselves with sloppy excuses as they hurriedly took more careful polls.

Just two days later they had the polls they wanted showing Bush leading Dean hugely -- Bush back on top in all categories. That Sunday-error-of-truth was quickly snuffed out by the Rove-media-blitz.

The Karl Rove revisionist machine has been going full tilt for months. The main object is to make Bush appear to be a giant. A giant that cannot be toppled. At the same time the Democratic candidates are portrayed as pigmies. Small, powerless, incapable of winning.

It's clear that Rove is winning the hearts and minds of some of the undecided voters. They are swayed by the constant repetition that Bush is larger than life and thereby unbeatable. They want to be with a winner.

Well of course. Karl has most of the U.S. media at his disposal to spread his propaganda. He has not as yet gained control of the Internet but you can bet he is trying.

The Internet is still giving information from foreign news sources and there are many non-media-driven WEB sites that expand on, explain or counter what our media reports. But much more must be done.

Everyone who wants to send Bush permanently back to Texas must join in to create a virtual Jack the Giant Killer to cancel this "giant" perception that Bush is omnipotent and unbeatable.

Settle down, Ashcroft, we're talking here of killing the giant false IMAGE of Bush that Rove is perpetuating, not the pissant person. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/pissant

Our Jack the giant killer is the combined efforts of everyone engaged in defeating Bush. Speaking out, registering voters and spreading information to friends and family in other states. It's knocking down all the false "giant" claims.

It's letting the light in through the cracks made by lies and false impressions. Jack working in all of us can chip away at the false image. Small bits of knowledge, spread around the country can make large dents in the giant façade. Here's a few to start with -- add your own and pass them on.

* One thing that intimidates voters is the impression of futility when they are inundated with TV news showing Bush constantly surrounded by crowds of adoring people. Cable TV usually does not report all that is going on, only that which adheres to the giant image.

How the Secret Service protects Bush from free speech

When President Bush travels around the United States, the Secret Service visits the location ahead of time and orders local police to set up "free speech zones" or "protest zones," where people opposed to Bush policies (and sometimes sign-carrying supporters) are quarantined. These zones routinely succeed in keeping protesters out of presidential sight and outside the view of media covering the event. http://www.sfgate.com/

* News of Iraq comes to us through the filter of rose-covered TV pictures. But more military people are speaking up. That's how we know that American troops are being killed from riding in Humvees that are not armored; that American troops are being killed because there are not enough armored vests to go around.

* The buying of votes has commenced as amnesty for aliens will be used to lure more Hispanics to vote for Bush -- especially important in Florida and California.

* Plans are in the works to get both women's and black's votes. The stage had already been set for Condi Rice to replace Dick Cheney as Bush's running mate for '04. This is believed to insure that the ticket got both the majority of women's votes and black votes.

Then along came the 9/11 Commission investigation and the White House outing of a CIA agent. Condi's up to her neck in both of these scandals. The media will give her a pass so Jack must open this chink in the giant armor wide enough to tip off all the voters.
