TWIST AND TURN

One thing most of us know from working for an institution or business. When questioned about our employer, we do not give our truth; we give our employer's truth -- we spin the positives just like Richard Clark did.

If we don't, employers will find employees who will support them. We can resign and then, unemployed, we are free to express the truth as we see it -- just as Richard Clark is now doing.

What is so hilarious about the present contretemps at the White House is that finally a few members of the press are acknowledging that the Bushites spin. For eight years all the reporters and talking heads hurled that epithet at the Clinton White House.

The self-appointed critic of the media, Howard Kurtz, even wrote a book called, "Spin Cycle," about it. According to him, everything coming out of the White House was spun by the Clintonians. Now we are learning that much of it was true.

Yet it took the terrible, catastrophic event of 9/11-Gate for the media to discover what most of us noticed long ago. The Bushites lie; raising spin to a new level of devious twists and turns that would out Checker Chubby.

We've heard years of the vocal convolutions of the Liar-In-Chief delivered in a strange language that bares little resemblance to English. Because he gets so mixed up trying to speak sometimes he ends up strangely telling the truth as noted by Jay Leno.

Speaking about a response by Bush to Bob Woodward, Leno commented: "Bush admitted that his pre-war intelligence wasn't what it should have been. We knew that when we elected him."

The distortions and deceptions of Bush regarding the absence of WMD are legend. At one moment Bush makes fun of searching for WMD, showing pictures of himself looking under his desk. The next moment he sends still another "expert" to Iraq to find them.

Even now there may be skullduggery afoot as reports have surfaced that old WMDs were seen being off-loaded secretly from U.S. military trucks in Iraq. This may be the modern equivalent of "salting the mine" for another "October Surprise."

As for his concentration on terrorist prior to 9/11, read it and weep: http://www.misleader.org/daily_mislead/Read.asp?fn=df03262004.html

Take Condi Rice (please!.) She's on tape right after 9/11 looking wide eyed and claiming that no one could imagine that bad guys would steal a plane and slam it into the World Trade Center and then take another one and slam it into the Pentagon.

Her "no one" turned out to be many some ones, including Richard Clark and various members of the intelligence community. Thankfully, the 9/11 Committee hung tough and she will have to raise her right hand and swear to tell the truth like Clark did in a public session.

She is already claiming that she "misspoke." She meant to say, "I could not imagine." Twist and turn and spin and lie make voters dizzy and blame others. She speaks her master's voice with flawless syntax.

TOM PAINENow Bush will meet privately with the Commission but only with Cheney there with him. Shades of Charlie McCarthy as one wag put it, "Can Cheney drink water when Bush is talking?"

The whole team Bush is out slamming and sliming Clark -- just as they did Robert O'Neill and the other whistle blowers. They excel in this exercise.

Is Bob Woodward next? His interview reports Bush saying that he paid little attention to al Qaida before 9/11. That supports Clark's testimony.

Twist and turn, spin and slime, flip and flop. However this all shakes out the country is finally getting a good look at the character and values of the Vitiator-in-Chief.
