Hasn't there had been enough reality shock administered to the electorate lately? Surely there has been enough to take the swagger out of the Con's almost pathological reverence for Bush. What is it going to take to raise the country's collective attention to the critical level of a semen stained dress or an audio tape? The revelations of the 9/11 hearing have been fraught with proof that the Bushies did little or nothing to prevent that catastrophe and the investigation is not finished yet. Death threats hurled against a 9/11 Commission member in response to the Con's unveiled attempt to divide and disparage the Commission's findings by claiming Jamie Gorelick's former work in the Justice Department caused 9/11. We've seen lie after lie of this administration exposed by not just one accuser or informer but by several. Books from respectable authors have delineated crimes ranging from disregard of the Constitution to near treasonous acts. Clandestine energy meetings, secrete war plans using funds apportioned by Congress for other uses -- what is it going to take to wake up a people who are supposed to be so damned smart and love liberty so damn much? Lies and misinformation leading to hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries to American troops were swept under the rug. Iraqi resistance continues to flame out of control. Coalition members pull out of Iraq. Why is it that Iraqi children killed and maimed when Bush invaded Iraq are "collateral damage" (sad but O.K.), yet we are told that it was "terrorists" that killed Iraqi children this week (terrible and criminal)? Aren't the kids just as dead either way? And please! If Bush finds it O.K. to kill children for oil why is he so adamant that women and their doctors be criminalized for deciding on a medical procedure called abortion? We've seen Bush garble his way through "Face the Nation" and just recently a White House press conference. The only clarity emerging was the obvious smiling satisfaction of Bush when he spoke of war. Democrats (Libs) have a lesson in loyalty to learn from the Republicans (Cons.) Whatever they may be feeling or thinking inwardly about the dismal Bush performances and outright lies, they NEVER express it outwardly. Their loyalty to Party transcends their often announced VALUES. Their words and actions transcend loyalty. They personify the ditto in ditto-heads. This is Lee Atwater's creation and his legacy: STONEWALLING THE TRUTH with a united front, center and rear. Karl Rove has continued to apply this strategy. It is the sludge that powers Rush Limbaugh. It is the cement that binds legislators together. Now it is burying John Kerry in his own efforts to explain the charges against him in the Bush ads.
The Bush administration is leading by fear and fear alone. They keep a constant cacophony of warnings going on all media outlets. They have tied Iraq to 9/11 in the ditto-head's and media's mind. They have made lies the truth by their constant repetition. Now they are tying the insurrection in Iraq (revolution?) to terrorism with their claim that the destruction would have happened here if our troops weren't in Iraq. They compound one lie with another and NO ONE HOLDS BUSH RESPONSIBLE.
Our best wishes, thoughts and admiration are with the women marching in Washington this Sunday. "The time is right for a public demonstration of historic size in support of reproductive freedom and justice for all women. Threats to these rights have never been so systematicand coordinated, and the lives and health of women have never faced such peril. On April 25th, in our Nation's Capitol we march to uphold "Choice, Justice, Access, Health, Abortion, Global and Family Planning." 2004-017 Copyright 2004 Renee T. Louise and Ruth M.
