Democrats,
Independents and undecided were all wreathed in smiles following the debate
last Thursday. Republicans mostly were surly and concentrated on concocting
lies about what happened during that debate.
But ALL of them continued on message.
All of them were totally committed to Bush and his election. None of them
really criticized the Bush facial grimaces during the debate and most considered
them to be what anyone would do.
One Republican advisor mentioned something
much more interesting. Noting the happy Dems he said, "Look at them.
Just a few days ago they were depressed and criticizing the Kerry campaign.
Today they are dancing for joy.
"We Republicans win because whether
the news is good or bad we are determined and positive. We all pull together
and we stay on message and we continually support our candidates no matter
what they do."
Whether Dems want to admit it or not,
the guy was right. Let the candidate make a slip; see a disturbing campaign
ad or a depressing poll and there are always a few noisy reactions and
venting.
By themselves this wouldn't be so bad
but these woe-Sayers influence the Independents and the undecided as well
as other Democrats. Gee, gosh and golly, how can it not?
At the first
debate, Bush gave Dems a mirror of themselves showing how they react when
the news is bad. He whined, he grimaced, he muttered angrily under his
breath. It was not pretty. It does not inspire and Dems must stop doing
it.
When people go on TV interviews and say
that their candidate booted it, that he shouldn't wind surf or whatever
it shows weakness. Contrast this with the almost fanatical excuses Repug
spokespeople make to cover up and explain away Bush's mistakes.
Why is it that there are always Repug
analysis and reporters that are always ready to cover the Bush administration's
ass? Why is it that the Dems don't really have any? It always seems as
if Liberals go out of their way to be fair when they should be firmly and
unwaveringly supportive.
Bush's strength comes from his two bases
which he can count on to get out and vote for him and his Party. These
are the rychus ones (evangelicals), who believe that religion should govern
government and the industrial empire of the excessively rich.
He acts devoted to the rychus ones but
this is a sham. He is devoted only to money and the power it brings.
Bush stokes the
rychus ones with social issues such as gay marriage bans and anti abortion
laws, while filling their spiritual maws with claptrap that
God sent him to be president to fight the evil doers.
The
rich guys like Halliburton or the drug companies contribute to his election
to influence policy and make a ton of money. Bush has proven he
will sacrifice the people and the environment to feed the gaping maw of
the military/industrial empire.
The song below, "Where
the Devil Rules the Pulpit" recorded back in the 20s is
most apropos to the Bush world. We took the liberty of revising a couple
of lines [*] to relate it to this century and this White House. (We could
not find the original author but are still looking to assign credit.)
There may be
a lot of singing
And an awful lot of prayer.
And the sermon may be answered
By an Amen here and there.
*But as sure
as Haliburton's
*And Dubya's wealth accrue,
Where the dollar rules the pulpit
There the devil rules the pew."
"Put the word out. People who really
want to get rid of Bush, take November 2nd off work, and spend the day
getting people to the polls!!" -- sent by GenderGapper subscriber
