WAR OF THE WORDS

If you listen to most Republican politicians it becomes very clear that they HATE Democrats, especially Howard Dean. They are not very kind about it either and their hatred and disgust permeates the media.

But they LOVE dead Democrats and use every opportunity to laud and misquote them to serve their own political agenda. Most recently they have brought President Roosevelt’s ghost forth to bolster Bush’s hideous attack on Social Security.

On the other hand, some Democratic politicians, while critical of certain aspects of Republican agenda, do seem to have an affinity for falling in line with Bush’s “proclamations from god”. We saw much of this during Bush’s first term and now after a brief hiatus it has returned following the recent Iraq vote.

"A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side." Aristotle

While Democrats have little good to say of most dead Republicans some even profess a kind of weird love for some of the living. A case in point is the totally unnatural, almost juvenile crush some have on John McCain, recently demonstrated by Hillary Clinton and John Kerry.

Needless to say, this apparent love affair is anathema to most grass root Liberals, Progressives, Independents and anyone who wants Bush the hell out of the White House and certainly don’t want him replaced by another warmonger.

It is almost a sure thing that McCain will run for president in 2008. He will do so with plenty of taped evidence of his fitness for the job happily furnished by leading Democratic politicians. Who can ever forget John Kerry choosing him for his VP over all Democrats; or Hillary Clinton’s certification of fitness from Iraq?

Fortunately, Howard Dean is a donkey of another color -- Grassroots! He is hated and feared by both Democratic and Republican D.C. politicians because they cannot intimidate him.

Repugs thought they had the “doctor-expert” category all sewed up with Senate Majority Leader Frist. The Dems are nervous to have a person who speaks his mind, sees the Repugs clearly and unabashedly expresses his hatred of what they are doing to the country and the world. They are also aware that the rank and file supports Dean.

But his [Dean's] enthusiasm is not echoed by the Democratic insiders in DC who have gotten so used to playing politics by GOP rules that they see Dean as a "madman" on a suicide mission that will wreck everything they know.” RHINO'S BLOG 2/21/05

Howard has cleverly taken over the Repugs bible-speak, without being obvious, and thrown it right back into their faces. Don’t look for sermons from him, just ingenious use of the coded idiom. It utterly confounds the Repugs because they cannot bash him for it without exposing their own perfidy.

The grassroots is not troubled since Dean uses the bible-speak to hold Bush’s feet to the fire on his lies, his attempt to destroy Social Security, the national debt, bearing false witness, media control, the thousands killed in Iraq and his continued attempts to deny women life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - just for starters.

In a recent addition to the Theater-of-the-Absurd Repug bible-speak in action, we witnessed the reversed Judas kiss when Bush bussed Democrat, Senator Lieberman, following his SOU speech.

Most of us are used to hearing code words. Certainly women are and so are blacks, gays and any other oppressed minority. The fun for us is watching and listening as Dean’s Archangel Gabriel jousts against Bush’s Constantine using Bush’s own scriptural-based voter seduction.
