| Have you noticed
how the really big, important stories have to do with shoving the blame
away from Bush and onto something or someone else? Have you
noticed that really important news is stifled, and really bad people are
protected?
What a fuss they are making over a recent Newsweek article reporting that Muslim religious material was flushed down the toilet. First Newsweek apologized and then it retracted the story -- a story that had previously been published several times without much or any notice taken. http://rawstory.com/exclusives/newsweek_koran_report_516.htm From the White House to the lowliest Repug blogger or wonk, crocodile tears are flowing as they heap all the blame for the riots on that one article. This despite the fact that Bush's own General Myers, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, has said publicly that the riots had no connection to that article. They are not satisfied with just lying about this article, they are after the head of the person who wrote it -- Michael Isikoff. (That is until they remembere that this same reporter crapped all over President Clinton with only one source so they now give Isikoff a pass but are going after Newsweek.) Go figure! This from an administration that glories in heaping honor on anyone of its members who makes a mistake, screws up or causes harm. Sounds like a lot of noise for such a small article but just think of how it is keeping the media occupied so they aren't talking about the $8.8 mil the Bushies have appropriated in Iraq; or how General Myers says that the riots in Afghanistan were because Bush is building bases in their country. Or how the information about the judges up for Senate advice and consent has been held back by the Bushies. And how much of the media is not giving out the full picture of why these judges in question are opposed by the Democrats. There is so much more they want to cover up, like how badly things are going in Iraq and the Iraqi people are getting sick of the Bush team's errors. Not to mention the revelations coming out now of the U.S.'s complicity (SANCTION BUSTERS) in the oil-for-food scandal. Or the Bush team's rape of Iraq's national treasures. And how can we forget that memo that surfaced in Britain telling of the Bush-Blair Iraqi Invasion Affair? And as Bush and his majority in Congress blow smoke at Americans, they continue to blame others for the mistakes they made. Last Tuesday, they got a bit of the shit thrown back in their faces, but how many of us heard or read of it? This is relatively short but well worth a read beyond the excerpt printed here. Galloway v the U.S. Senate: transcript of statement "Have a look at the real scandal breaking in the newspapers today, revealed in the earlier testimony in this committee. That the biggest sanctions busters were not me or Russian politicians or French politicians. The real sanctions busters were your own companies with the connivance of your own Government." http://www.timeson line.co.uk/article/0,,3-1616578,00.html Using lies and fear to gain power, the Bush administration has put this country in a world of hurt and damaged world peace. Now we stand on the edge of a nuclear extermination of minority rights by the Senate. Is this how America, the great Promised Land of freedom from religious prosecution ends? Is the freedom that so many of our ancestors came to these shores to find about to be stripped from us?
