GOT GUTS?

        There's a joke making the Washington rounds. "Why are the Republicans so much against stem cell research? Because they're afraid Democrats would use it to grow a spine."

        Why did some otherwise intelligent Democrat leaders turn on Howard Dean recently? Surely they are as smart as we are and could see how detrimental it would be. But all they seemed to see was that Dean was criticizing Republicans.

        Oh My! Somehow they have failed to hear what Republicans have been calling Democrats both individually and as a group. Just for starters (and there's plenty to Google for more) they have and still do call Democrats and/or their Party:

        Obstructionists, unpatriotic, weak, pacifists, welfare queens, traitors, baby killers, sodomy supporters, Godless heathens, Jesus haters, etc.
        Could it be that they were thinking entirely different from most of the rank and file? Could it be that they were thinking of the funding they want to get from big corporations and feared that Howard Dean~Rs truth might hurt sensitive corporate feelings?

        Maybe that is it. Some politicians suck up to the money tit and make nice to the Republican board members who control the political money machine. This is where they get the bulk of the money they use to finance their next campaign.

        Also, for some reason they seem to think that "nice" makes voters like Democrats and so will vote for them. They don't want to be seen as the Party that makes waves, they want to exude respectability. They want to be the nice guys -- forgetting entirely where nice guys finish.

        How have they avoided learning that voters want strength and toughness in their leadership? Don't they ever listen to the way Republicans crap all over Democrats and how Republicans still win? Where have they been for the last century or so?

        If they are looking for a comparison of language between those having the same position, they should remember Haley Barbour, former RNC Chairman. Dean is a piker compared to old Haley~Rs vituperative verbal missals hurled at Democrats.

        If they are looking for someone in an even higher office, they should replay VP Cheney's recent remarks about Howard Dean. With malice aforethought, he piled lies on top of derogatory comments about Dean's family.

        And listen to the loving [sic] comments coming from Republicans as Cline's new bash-book about Hillary Clinton is released in dribs and drabs to keep the public hearing one lie after another repeated until they believe it.

        You can tell the Repugs are really scared of Dean and Clinton by the way they are going after them. Just please note this all you Democratic wussies, "GET GUTS!"

        The Repugs are not being respectful or honest or fair. And they are not being harassed by fellow Repugs. And, they control the White House, the Senate, the House, the Supreme Court and the media.
