| Many of us remember
the elections of '04 with something akin to horror, but certainly feel
that there were lessons to be learned. The problem is that the Party
leadership does not appear to have learned much of anything.
The Democrat was an outspoken Iraqi War vet named Paul Hackett. And, according to the Dem leadership (with the exception of Howard Dean), he did everything wrong. He pulled no punches; he attacked Bush, his lies, his agenda and his policies head on. The scaredy-cat leadership, who are hopelessly clinging to what they think is Liberal middle ground, are sure that to win, Bush and the war should not be strongly criticized. The reason? Well they tell us that it will make some voters mad and they won't vote for Democrats. Stupid reasoning! First off, Repugs will vote for Bush no matter what. Next, when Dems tiptoe around issues for fear of offending, it just lends credence to the charges that they are pussies, wussies and girley-men too weak kneed to protect our country against terrorists. That turns off many Liberals and Independents. In addition, these middle ground Dems look like Repug-light. They can hardly be distinguished from Repugs when they speak of the Iraq war as they piously proclaim that "they" would have done it differently with better results. There is no doubt that in order to win, the Dems must take the fight right to the White House and all the lies that led to the killings in Iraq. If a Senator has to stop and think if she/he is against preemptive war, he/she shouldn't be a Dem candidate. Now is the time to hit the Bushies and hit hard while the polls are showing that people are getting on to his lies and are disturbed by his preemptive Iraqi war and the casualties on both sides.
Do the Dem leaders lack ammunition for a sustained attack on Bush and his mob? If so, just tune them into our Web pages and blogs. If we hear any more of our leadership saying what a nice guy Bush is we will barf. http://www.crosswalk.com/news/1344556.html Sure, the Chicken Hawks are cowards who failed to fight for their country, but they put on a front of strength and resolution -- macho! When criticized, they just stand regally above the fray and claim divine guidance. Sure, the Chicken Littles may well have been brave fighters for America but their very actions now brand them as weak and ineffective. They know the Iraq war is wrong and they should stand up and say so no matter what -- show voters some guts! Strong sells with voters; weak does not. Chicken Hawks must learn that the sky will not fall if they stand up and condemn this administration. Screw the Henny Pennys and their mug wrumperies and give us a candidate with stones. 2005-033 Copyright 2005 Renee T. Louise and Ruth M.
